Why is a Visitor Permit important?

A visitor's permit is an official representation of your eligibility to drive on the public roads of Barbados with an international driver licence. If you are a visitor to Barbados, then you are legally required to apply for a visitor permit before driving on our public roads.

Permit Requirements

Prerequisites for a Visitor Permit:

  • Applicants must be 16+ years old

  • A valid international driver licence

  • A valid passport (for stays over two months)

  • A medical certificate for applicants 70+ years old

  • $10.00 BBD for stays under two months

  • $100.00 BBD for stays exceeds two months

Stay under two months

You can apply for a short term permit which is valid for just two months

  • A fee of $10 BBD

  • Must be 16+ years old

  • A valid driver licence

Stay exceeds two months

You can apply for a long term permit which is valid for over two months

  • A fee of $100 BBD

  • Must be 16+ years old

  • A valid driver licence

  • A valid passport
